Install the desktop app
- Go to https://claude.ai/downloads
- Install and sign in
- Learn shortcuts: trigger a chat with a key combo and use Caps Lock for dictation
Set up Cowork Cowork is available on paid plans and adds job-style workflows. In Settings > Cowork:
- Global Instructions: set tone, concision, and deliverables
- Access: choose the folder Cowork can work in
- Connectors: connect apps you trust and revoke access anytime
Run a first task Start simple by asking Cowork to create a one-page brief from a folder of documents:
- Cowork proposes a plan
- You approve steps when needed
- Cowork executes, reads files, and produces a clean result
